I keep getting a "Cannot execute \\.\Notifications\NamedEvents\EventWakeUpTomom" notification error which is getting on my nerves. I've upgraded from TTN2 to TTN5 and wondered if others have had this or am I just missing a file (or folder ) that TomTom needs to work correctly? |

use check_notifications.exe to get rid of that event. Careful, don't delete any other events!!! _________________ Lutz

I also keep getting the message as above. This happens if i switch off the ipaq with TomTom still running then switch it back on.
Can you elaborate please on the check_notification.exe fix for the error message. |

check_notifications is a utility that allows you to look into the events database and remove items from it.
You can get it from here.
it's an ARM executable - needs to be copied to the PDA and run there. Be VERY careful not to delete other events. _________________ Lutz

I've done as advised but the error notification keeps coming back every time I switch the Ipaq back on.
If I exit TomTom before powering off the Ipaq then it's fine. As before, the error only happens if the Ipaq if switched off with TomTom still running.
Any ideas??? |

It's still happening on mine and whats worse, it seems to be killing my battery for some reason - when charging, even without tomtom running (I've check the running programs screen) this event pops up and turns on the screen - I think it might be doing it at other times as my battery normally lasts nearly 2 weeks and its lasted 4 days since I installed TTN5 There must be some way to kill the program that generates this - that notification program only removes the notification, not the cause.
Any ideas? |

I've emailed TomTom to see if they can come up with a fix. |

The TomTom offical response
The Naviagtor software should be exited with the "Exit application" everytime as not closing properly can cause connection problems with e GPS devioce yo are using . Please exit properly every time .
With best regards,
The TomTom Customer Support Team
What a lot of C**P. Never had a problem with TT3, could turn the Ipaq on and off with TT3 running without any problems what so ever.
It seems TomTom support is lacking, much like its products.
Did anyone on this forum give any feedback regarding any of the changes in TT5 i.e unable to customise menus etc |

I don't know if I am telling folk how to suck eggs but here is how to use
check_notifications.exe :
copy it on to your main memory and run it .
Then press and hold on the offending notifications , they will be either "EventWakeUpTomom.exe" or "ttgpseng.exe" as if you were copying or cutting.
The word delete will appear and then you can delete them.
This solved the problem for me.
Once again, apologies if i'm covering old ground.

I don't understand
When TTN5 is running I cannot get back to the check_notifications application to delete it, and when TTN5 is not running it does not appear in the list.
Where am I going wrong?
Cheers

There is a topic on this site (can't find it at the moment but it's there somewhere) that tells you how to customise the menu system & it works great. Tomtom removed the option but there are some very clever people out there that were fast with a solution. _________________ If riding in a plane is flying then riding in a boat is swimming. Paul,
Check_notifications is an application that should be run prior to starting TT5 and not together.
The problems only happen if you fail to exit TT5 When you switch off your PDA. For some reason, and it's a bug in the operating system, when you don't close TT5 and switch off then on , a notification is added to a database. These then mount up and are not deleted (As they should be) causing problems such as freezing etc..
Just run check_notifications before running TT5 and delete the offending notifications. Do Not go mad and delete things you are not sure of as this can cause more trouble.
If, however as you say that none of the notifications are appearing as described in other posts, then this is not what is causing your freezing.
Also if your PDA is running Windows Mobile 2003 SE (second edition) You should not need to use check_notifications.
Ok

Stuart,
Thanks for this.
I am trying to get used to stopping TTN5 when I leave the car, rather then just switching the pda off. It makes it slower to setup a route when I get back in the car.
Cheers
