I must admit, when I first installed the GB+ map it didn't automatically install the postcode files. only when I installed the GB map did it do this.
I will try again |

I have just done a little experiment.
With the postcode files in a directory called x:\zip, everything is working.. I can do 7 digit postcode searches even with the 'plus' map.
If I move the zip directory to x:\tomtom\zip, all looks to work, but when I search for a postcode, I can only search 4 digits (like the old version)..
Once I put the zip directory back to 'root' its all OK again.

Hi Jon,
Is your x:\zip on a storage card or main memory?
I have a \storage card\zip directory with two files in it (great_britain.postal and setup.dat)
I can only get 4/5 digit postcodes (e.g. SK10 1) to work - at which point it asks for a street name. Full postcodes don't seem to work, e.g. Sk10 1BJ. And they only work this way on GB. If I switch to GB+ I only get 3/4 digit codes (e.g. SK10) to work.
Cheers, Jim |

Forget my question!
I have just added an empty tomtom folder onto my storage card (e.g. \storage card\TomTom), as discussed in another Postcode topic, and full postcode support has sprung into life! :o
Its just as well TomTom have PocketGPS and a whole host of clever people to support them!
Now all I have to do is sort my other problems out

so it did - so that's a on my part then.
You can't suggest a fix to my "Bluetooth Connect failure after 20mins" or my "charging light" problem can you? |

Is this really an installer anomily? Mine worked perfectly without any interaction on my part.
Saying that, I did install mine to a folder first and then copied it manually, so perhaps if you do it via Hotsync it goes wrong.
Just so that everyone understands the terminology used, if you look at the SD card on a PC, it should be like this (where x: is the drive letter used on your PC)
x:\zips - Location of Postcode Files
x:\TomTom - Location of TomTom applications Files
x:\itn - Some kind of Temorary file
x:\Great_Britain_Plug-Map - Map files (this will obviously be different depending on what maps you have installed).
The way that this appears on the Palm will be different, depending on what 'File Manager Application' you are running to look at the SD card.. But basically, zips, TomTom, itn and the Map directory need to be at the 'ROOT' level of the card.
Someone posted above (or certainly implied) that you can move the directories under the 'TomTom' directory.. This does not appear to be the case..
I hope this helps.

Hi Jon,
I installed TTN5 application via ActiveSync to main memory.
I installed the Maps to the SD card using the "Advanced" facility, which allows transferring the files to a Removable Storage device on your Host PC (in my case an SD Card reader), rather than using ActiveSync. Using USB2 and a fast SD card it copies full GB+ map (200MB) in minutes, rather than the hour that has been suggested in another topic.
As its a optional mechanism provided by the install, you would think it would work. Perhaps the "Advanced" tag actually means your supposed (intuitively?) to know about the requiremt for the \tomtom folder.

I was having exactly the same problem on my Palm T3 - I had installed the GB post codes file but still had plain old 4-5 char codes.
The post code files had ended up in a directory called Great_BritainpostalMap. I created a directory called zip and copied the contents of the latter directory and full post codes started working.
Hoorah!
It such fun being a beta tester :D |

Apparently the GB plus include MRE.

JST,
I used the Advanced option too, but in my case selected a 'folder'.. I pointed the install to D:\TEMP\TOMTOM and when it was finshed, I ended up with the following directories:
D:\TEMP\TOMTOM\ZIP
D:\TEMP\TOMTOM\Great_Britain_Plug-Map'
Since I had specificed D:\TEMP\TOMTOM, I assumed that ZIP and 'Great_Britain_Plug-Map' were ment to be at the root level, so simply copies them over.
So, I simply copied both folders to the root of my SD card and it worked.

The \itn folder is where the itineraries are stored, if saved. The temporary.itn is the last itinerary you were setting up before you saved it. _________________ Richard

The applicatio nfiles hav eot be on your PPC to work - If the tomtom folder on your card has anything in it, it is left over from a previous version and should be deleted.
Even when TT is sold on an SD card, the first thing it does is copy itself to the PPC. |
