|
|
I just bought the full TTN5 package because I wanted the new BT receiver and one of the reasons is because I had read that the scrooling of the map is on a par with the TomTom Go products.
I have just used it to go up the road and back and it is WORSE than TTN3.
I am running on a HP Ipaq 4150 and I completely uninstalled TTN3 before installing 5 I have also transferred the maps to a 512Mb Kingston card (Before I did the install) which I believe is a good memory card speed wise.
Is anybody else having this problem? If so does anybody know a work round please
Thanks

Simply disable POI's on the map and it will work very smoothly.
The POI warner facility still works and will display the camera or whatever POI on the map anyway. |

Thanks for the reply.
I appreciate the advice but I have boxed up TTN5 and will be sending it back for a full refund and going back to TTN3 which works with POIs enabled using CheckPOInt.
Before your reply I had done a full reset on my ipaq and tried the install again and into wouldn't recognise the BT receiver!
I have had nothing but hassle since I bought this and it is not worth the money.
I didn't go for the upgrade because I wanted the new BT receiver but it seems worse also it appears from looking round this forum that the map data isn't much better and a lot of useful options, such as being able to decide the order of icons, have been removed.
This software appears to be several steps backwards rather than forwards. |

Where do I start:
I had numerous problems seeing the new BT receiver in TomTom although I could see it in Bluetooth manager.
The error said no GPS Device although it actually meant no GPS signal which is very confusing.
The maps appear no better.
Map scrolling is worse than TTN3
If you do not have a route planned, you will NOT be warned of speed cameras. (CheckPOInt did this much better)
You cannot use your own sound files for POIs. As per CheckPOint, GPSAssist, POIwarner etc)
You cannot have two warnings for POIs (e.g. one at 300 meters and one at 100 meters) As per CheckPOint, GPSAssist, POIwarner etc)
You cannot have speed specific warnings (when using pocketgpsworld speed camera database) As per CheckPOint, GPSAssist, POIwarner etc)
The full package does not come with a mains charger (As per TTN3)
Need I go on? |

And another.
Font sizes are far too big and there is no option to cahnge them.
You can hold the stylus on them to see the full text but that is a bit crap.
Go into Favourites and you will see how crap it is.
I HAVE NEVER BEEN SO STRESSED BY A PIECE OF SOFTWARE AS THIS BEFORE |

A little sense of perspective would be nice. As would not posting the same "see my post..." at the end of every topic. Not everyone is having the same problems as you, so don't try to ram your opinion down everyone's throats. It's a bit like a retarded dwarf - not big and not clever (a bit like my humour :D) |

Not taking the p*** but I reckon something must be up with your PPC or memory card.
I'm running an HP4150 on a 1GB 66x SD card and I reckon I'm getting 5-10fps with POI's activated. However, it's more like 3fps on my Viking 512mb card so maybe that could be your problem?
I loved TT3 - TT5 is twice as good imo. |

I am running on hp1940, with samsung 266 Mhz processor & 1 Gb integral SD card.
Scrolling seems a lot smoother than TT3 (& may I say slightly faster), even with POI's on the map.
Yeah the font size is annoying, but at least we get street & district information on the map that we we did not have on TT3.
Also like itinery function to search for POI's when already in a planned route & a little icon appear next to the POI list to state whether on route or a slight detour is required.
Also like the idea of linking volume to car speed, but not gone fast enough to notice any difference yet !! :D
As for menu order, matter of personal taste, but probably should note that will mainly annoy the person controlling the device, which should not be the driver, at speed !! 8O |
