Received my upgrade today, and the map CD's seem to have to versions of the maps, a standard version and a Plus version, does anyone know the difference. The basic only does not appear to be a cut down version as the UK standard was about 130Mb and the UK Plus over 200MB, it not the postcodes either.
Also the little round icon in the top right corner indicates traffic updates, green is work and upto date, amber meas there is more upto data info available. Even though I have my traffic set to update every 15 minutes the icon appears to stay amber a long time, any ideas?

The PLUS map integrates Major Roads of Europe (MRE). Using the PLUS map, you can navigate to any other country in Europe without having to swap from Great Britain map to MRE. Once in that other country you would then need to swap to that country's map for a detailed map. |

Arguably it is easier to to it the other way round - it is beter to ave the detail of the final destination when yo uset out rather than change - unless you have no idea how to get from your UK home to the nearest major road.
That has the added advantage of only using the much largermaps when you need to rather than every time you go to the local shops. |

julianbarker,
Point taken, but I think the PLUS maps are only available in the Great Britain and Netherlands flavours. Correct me if I'm wrong. |

Any advantage to installing the standard rather than the Plus maps if you are not intending on venturing outside of the UK? |

Personaly I dont see any advantage of having the UK and MRE on the same map.
I think we all have a chance to change to another country's map when we leave the UK, either by ferry/train/air, surely not many of us have a Aquada ?
Now thigns like France or Germany ect with MRE makes sense though ... _________________ iPAQ 2110

I’d think you might see a slightly quicker look up time on the GB only map when compared to the GB Plus map. As there are fewer places on the GB only map. However I can’t prove this, as I don’t have the upgrade version yet.

I've got both the Plus and normal map on my SD card now.
There is a slight difference in version numbers, the normal one is v562 and the Plus version is v571, so its probably very slightly upto date than the normal map?
Although the normal v562 map works quite a lot faster in address lookup and map scrolling. |
