|
|
I've just bought an 'old' France map from Tele Atlas, installed it on a Kingston 512MB card with V5.10 and it works brilliantly.
There was a load of room left on the SD card so I thought I may as well put my GB map on there as well.
I've transferred all the files over but I can't switch maps.
I've gone to change preferences, manage maps, then switch maps but the only option on the screen is the France map, no sign of the GB map.
Went back checked the SD card and the maps is on there.
Is there something else I need to do to switch maps? |

Have you tried installing the GB map rather than just copying? |

I've got a TTG 300, so the map is on a SD card. I just copied the contents of the card onto the new card same as I did with the France map.
I didn't think you could install it from SD card? |

Sorry - I didn't realise you've got a 300. I suppose you might have incompatibility between the application software and the mixture of the new and old maps. |

I had to install the lastest Firmware V5.10 to get the new maps to work si I don't think that's the problem. It's probably something very simple but I can't work it out.
I know it's been done as Faust has done it recently. |

He had to re-activate the French map. Did you have to do it as well? |

I had to activate the maps when I first transferred them to my new SD card. They're working fine. I've even tried re-loading the GB maps to the card using a different method but it hasn't made any difference. |

I have read your post PJ and I cannot understand it. You appear to have done everything right, so it should be in manage maps, switch maps etc. It is possible that the SD card is at fault as it is well documented that some SD cards work with TomTom and some don't. Having said that my PNY is in the list that doesn't and yet it does work perfectly. I take it both your maps have had the 5.10 firmware update and when promoted to replace the itn file and the TomTom-Cfg file you said yes to all? If you have done all that then I would try re-installing the GB map again and see what happens. I also assume that you copied the entire contents of the GB map using edit, select all, copy, then paste to the new card - I know it's pretty basic stuff but worth a shot. |

Faust
Thanks for the advice but it's all sorted now
When I did it the first time, I put the France map on the SD card first, then installed V5.10. I then made sure the map was working OK. I then copied the entire contents of the GB SD card across. As you said it would it asked if I wanted to replace some files (which I did) Everything installed OK but it wouldn't let me switch maps.
In the end I cleared the card and started again. This time I installed the contents of the GB SD card first, made sure that was working OK then I copied just the France Map folder across. Everything's now working as it should thankfully.
So now I can go off to France safe in the knowledge I'll have Jane to guide me :D |
