I would like to get TTN5 for it's improvments but would not like to loose some of the features that will be dropped from TTN3 . My question is: If I buy a full copy of TTN5 would I be able to run both aplications on one PPC if they were loaded and run from the storage card.

You can do that but you will have to keep independent maps - the versions cannot read the other version's map. _________________ Lutz

This is very interesting, so is it just a case of installing the TT5 upgrade and it will not overwrite TT3? It would be nice to keep TT3 as well, incase of emergencies! |

No - the upgrade info specifically states that your copy of TT3 will not be valid after you activate TT5.
The original poster was talking about buying the full version of TT5, not the upgrade. |

I can confirm that you cannot have both versions installed at the same time even with both maps on the SD card.
TT5 just wipes out TT3.
I hope TT get the SDK out soon, I need checkpoint !!! _________________ Garmin Edge 800 (cycling)

Only if you install to the same folder. _________________ Lutz

I installed TT5 to the SD card and TT3 to default directory.
Whenever I start them up, TT5 always loads. _________________ Garmin Edge 800 (cycling)

Do you have one or two icons? You may want to refresh the shortcut for TTN3 - it may stil show the old icon but point to the TTN5 location.
You can also use the Pocket File explorer to start TTN3 directly. _________________ Lutz

You could try installing one version to the SD card and one to storage. Also V5 can (with a very small change) read V4 (map v390) maps. I dont know about the maps that come with version 3. |

I have tried and tried and I just cannot get both installed.
I choose to install TT3 to main memory (default locations)
I choose to install TT5 to SD Card.
It always appears to put TT5 over the top of TT3 even though I asked it not to put it in main memory.
I done a hard reset last night to see if it was just the PDA being daft but it made no difference and now I have to install all my stuff

I know the horse has bolted but before I start installing any new aplication I make a backup with"Sprite Backup Premium Edition" then if disaster strikes a restore of all pre installation programs and settings are only a hard reset and a few screen taps away ,although you may be getting a little tight for space on a 256mb card with 2 sets of maps and backup files
Have you tried installing the first version to the storage using the guide on these forums ( I think ,but not sure it requires a reg hack or moving some files ) and then when that working ok installing the second version to main memory ? Dave |

Can you share the information about how to read V4 map with V5? Thanks! |

You can cofigure it to save what ever you want! but I don't see much piont in saving "all the ppc" you just save the volatile storage as an EXE file. You can however save "all the ppc to your Pc in case of a complete catastrophe..As for your saved backup ..It depends what you used and how it was saved, as to how easy it is to restore
