First of all, how come it doesn't display many road names? I thought that was supposed to be a big feature. I notice as I'm driving that literaly tons of roads pass by with no names on the screen. Other times, it displays everything near-by. Is there some sort of criteria for what TomTom considers worth showing on screen? Does it only show road names if you're traveling at low speed or something? Or if they are within a certain distance?

Other thing is the POI warning. Why would they want to limit users to some crappy bells and whistles? Seriously, they made the decision that users wouldn't want something more relevant for thier POI's? What the heck use is a cow moo'ing? I really hope checkpoint gets updated for TT5, it was nice to have more than one warning as well. I know its no different to TT:GO, but anyone with a PDA surely would be more tech savvy, I mean the GO is for users that just want to switch on a box and have GPS and nothing else.

Overall, I'm finding it better than TT3, but having a hard time getting used to a few customization issues like the POI warnings, menu customizing, etc that TT3 and checkpoint handled nicely.

May be of use for warning for the included big mac shop poi !

I feel sure that with a little bit of cunning thats its possible to add your own custom sounds into the correct place :D

Like you TT v5 is growing on me, but the missing customisation options is a big backward step.

Regarding the sounds, it won't be long before someone devlops a utility to convert and add new sounds. The POI warning system isn't bad but would be better if it had the option to warn based on time to POI instead of distance.

Laughing Out Loud, 'cow mooing'...

I'm sure TT didn't put in voice prompts, because it's against public policy to avoid speed cameras.

OTOH it's an easy thing to fix. I don't have 5 yet, but it would be a simple matter to convert the .wav files (or whatever) from Checkpoint, into .ogg files using an audio editing app. Then put them in the dir where all the other .ogg files are, and set to the POI.

Personally, I'd rather have a 'ding', or alarmbell for cameras.

They are meant to make you drive slower in areas of danger which is why there are signs warnign you of them ,and they paint them bright yellow (or hideous dayglo diagonal stripes in The Netherlands even). I don't think their location is a secret - and if being warned you are in an area that is considered dangerous can be done like that, it makes even more sense for it to be done by an audible alarm in the car.
