Hi,
I'm very new to the mobile GPS game (any GPS game, in fact) and am looking at buying TTN5 having read the review on this site. A couple of quick questions for you guys if I may:
2. Can anyone recommend a good in-car kit (which I believe does not come with the TTN5 package as standard)? I have an HP iPaq2210.
3. Whilst the GPS unit is hooked up on Bluetooth, would it be possible to also hook up a Bluetooth earpiece at the same time to listen to the voice directions?
4. I also want to use it whilst cycling in London. How do other users find this - do they have the unit in a bag or in your pocket and use earphones for directions, or is there a rack available to mount it onto the bike?

Matt,
In order of reply...
1) yes they are, bought tt & 2210 from same, quick & did price match.
2) In car kits tend to be a matter of personal choice, some opt for the suction mounts, other for dash or vent mounts, with or without amp for the speaker/pwr for the 2210.
The vent mount is very small & has been used easily in other vehicles, like a Luton Van, the holder is also brill as it protects the 2210, bought it with a belt clip so it forms a useful bit of kit. I did had to do some mods to get it to work in the car, as the original vent mount won't swivel, mine does now.
3) The voice directions I have tried while out walking and on my bike, due to the fact you are effectively moving quite slowly walking, it is very difficult to judge distance, I also found it kept trying to re-calculate the route & switch back to the "quickest route" not "walking" whilst roaming the streets of london, making it very difficult to use.
The fix has been to just leave the map up as displayed when "walking" is selected & navigate watching the blue pointer arrow on the map, (in other words not going into the Nav screen) this works surprising well as you tend to cut through streets to shorten the route, the walking side of tt does not appear to always select the best route in this mannor.
When Biking you cannot hear voice directions well due to wind, traffic noise. I thought having a ear piece was not on due restrictions on movement!! Quite frankly you don't need voice directions in either walk or bike mode as the map (turn sound off) is fine. Usually set the motorway speed limit form 65 down to 5 to to miss motorways!!!
4) I bought a HP Red Rugged Case, this has been mounted on my bike with a made up bracket attached to Minoura 12cm Space Grip. It works really well. You may also consider replacing the rubber side grips as they don't stand up to being treated this way......I went for some composite fibre glass ones, can't tell from the original, other options are anodised alum metal ones.
