|
|
Has anyone else had problems with ordering the upgrade to V5 on the TomTom website. I have tried a few times and when I click the button to send the order it tells me that my card is invalid. I have checked with my bank and they say no problems exist. By the way I have tried the same card on other web sites with no problems. |

Are you using Opera as your browser?
I had the same problem on the Blockbuster web site no matter which credit card I used. Tried a different browser and it worked fine.

My purchase involved TomTom launching a popup requiring me to exchange data with my card issuer as part of a security system my card issuer seems to now require for some transactions. Check you don't have popups blocked whilst going through the purchase. |

M browser is IE6. I just tried allowing all pop ups but the results were the same. I'm begining to suspect the card verification number as the problem as sites without this work OK. |

I have known people swear there was a problem with a website, when the only problem was that the verification number was damaged and had been misread. unfortunatly it is imposisble to check the number your bank has as none of their employees has access to it and al lthe ycan do is send a new card if there is a verification number problem.
On the other hand TT could be really stupid like Paypal - Paypal won't let me sell becasue they say all my cards are invalid so will not allow me to run up fees - meanwhile I have credit in my seller accunt because they they accept one-off payments into my seller account on the same cards! Despite me making these deposits to prove the cards are valid, they won't reactivate my seller account which they closed just becasue my cards had expired. This has gone on for over a year. |

I thought that the verification number was the problem so I had the bank send me a new card and guess what? Same results, Card Invalid! |

Sorry to hear you have tried that and failed. The fig leaf Paypal hang onto is an alleged inconsistency between my address as recorded by my bank and CC company, and the address they hold. They can't tell me what the inconsistency is, as the addresses all match 100% and have been checked loads of times! |

Ya, Paypal helped a thief steal $1,200 from me.
I sold a Replay PVR on EBay, and received payment through Paypal. I mailed the item, and a few days later the buyer asked me for a tracking number. I told him I didn't have one, and that it hadn't been necessary for the 5 years I'd been selling on EBay, and the next thing I knew the credit was reversed in my Paypal account!
Of course Paypal believed the thief, and so I haven't used them in the three years since. There are excellent alternatives.
Beware of the Ebay ID similar to jewelerinpa. |
