There is a battery monitor on my web site, just click the link at the bottom of this post, then look down the Specs page.

Works fine with the Mio168.

Yes it should work OK, after you install it you may need to do a SOFT re-set to get it to show.

The battery monitor could be useful when walking using Memory Map etc. so I've downloaded it to try. You have other utilities on your site, any chance of adding a 'screen blanker' utility for the ppc that would put an icon on the screen which, when tapped, would blank the screen (requiring a short press on the power button to reactivate) while leaving the program running (as per the screen toggle function in mp3player, Windows op.sys.)?

I know that this facility extends battery life but it is a pain switching back & forth between MM & mp3player.

I'd be willing to buy a utility like that as long & it didn't cost to much>

There are lots of free programs available on www.freewareppc.com - including many battery monitors - look in the Utilities section under Enhancements

There are also timeout programs that will automatically shut down your PPC - I haven't checked out all that is available, but there are lots of goodies there

Thanks a lot for that, downloaded Displayoff (first link) & it works well (except TTN5 which I sometimes use when a passenger & have no access to power socket).

Battery life extended by at least 25% using Displayoff.

Thanks for the link Sequin

Hi,
I have downloaded Displayoff, and it seems to work OK, using a button to operate it, and the record button to switch the display back on.
Only slight snag is that when I switch back on, it also activates the "Notes" program, and I then have to switch back to Memory-Map to see where I am.
Is there any way to avoid Notes being activated?

I have disables all the buttons (Start, settings,buttons/select none for each.) then programmed button 5 (record button) to run Display off. This is because I often carry the ppc in a shirt pocket & the front buttons get pressed by accident.

The ppc can then be put into display off mode by a brief press on the record button & display can be reactivated by a brief press on the power button. The ppc will then display the program you were last using (it works with any program EXCEPT TTN5). If you were using Memory Map then Memory Map will be displayed on reactivation showing the current location (assuming you have locked gps position to centre of screen with the lock icon).

What may be happing for you is that one of the front buttons is allocated to notes & is being pressed by accident.
