Before I bought my Navman sleeve, I used my Garmin 3+ with my iPAQ, using a very Heath Robinson contraption. Essentially I used the Serial cable that came with the Garmin and coupled it to the Serial cable that came with the iPAQ, using a null modem cable to join the two together.

Hi John,

I think most (but not all) PDAs have serial connections, however the cables are not usually supplied as standard, and are often expensive and difficult to obtain accessories. However, look at this website which has both serial cables (to 9 pins) and custom cable assemblies for various PDA/GPSs:
http://pc-mobile.net/pdaserial.htm

http://pc-mobile.net/grdc.htm

Their pages should at least give you an indication of which PDAs have serial ports. Although based in Hong Kong, they also have a UK distributor, but he's going on holiday from June until September this year!

Cheers, Alan.
