Hi, today I have added the location of 5 gatso cameras to my tomtom 300. I stopped right next to them and added them as a GPS position so they should be highly accurate.

The question is, how do I ensure these new scameras are uploaded to the database so that everyone else can benefit from them?

I currently use POIedit to auto update the POI's on my device but I am unaware if this also uploads the new data from my device. Can anyone clarify this please.

Regards

Sarge

Email the new cameras to cameras@pocketgpsworld.com making sure you include the longitude, latitude co-oridinates, type of camera, road name and road speed.

I'm sure that's all you need to send.

:D may I ask how I'm supposed to find the details out? Is there a program that will tell me that from the POI I have added to my TT300

Google for WinOV2. Once you have installed this, you can use it to dump your modified gatso ov2 file into a standard text file.

Your new cameras will probably be at the bottom of this file. Simply cut and paste them into an email for submission to the database.

The wonderful people who look after the database have said elsewhere that all you need to do is send your ov2 POI file to them and they will sort out any duplicates.
What I have done is this:
Rather than add new cameras (or updates/changes) to the existing pocketGPScamera POI groups, make a new POI group called "new cams" or whatever, and add the details there. If it's a change to an existing camera (i'e. adjusting its position or adding its speed) I give it the same name and number as the existing one. If its a new camera, I try to follow the same naming system but don't give it a full number, so its something like "GATSO:xxx1@30"
Then I just send the new_cams.ov2 file off to them as an attachment to an email along with any comments or notes.

Hope this helps

Forgot to add:
And then hopefully every month I can just delete all my "new cams" after I've downloaded the new database... Smile
