I know next to nothing about GPS so I'm glad that sites like this exist.

Since I already own a PDA (Dell Axim), I'm considering buying a Compact Flash GPS unit. I've been reading through some of the technology reviews, but I don't know what else is involved.

I've also read through the FAQ, but it didn't seem to answer that particular question. Can someone point me to a primer on setting up and using a GPS system?

What do you want to do with it? Navigating in your car? Walking? Cycling? Just plotting your position on a map?

Primarily navigating in the car. My friend has a rather expensive unit that gives voice directions and all. Obviously, I don't expect that from an add-on to my PDA. But the wife and I plan some traveling this summer and it would be nice to be able to find our destination without getting lost. All address to address stuff - not out in the woods.

BTW, I live in the US - if that makes a difference.
