I wasn't quite sure of the best place to post this so I appologise if it is not right.
Anyway, does anyone know of a utility that I can load on my PPC to mute the sound when one of the hardware buttons is pressed. The reason for this request is that I don't particularly want the spoken directions during my entire journey, especially if there are other people in the car with me. I would normally know the way to get to the rough area of my destination, so I would then like to un-mute it to direct me to the final destination. Also, if the phone rings (hands free) then it would be nice to mute the sound while I answer the call. I know you can mute the sound by hitting the speaker icon on the screen and selecting mute, but that is not easy and not safe when you are driving.
Any ideas?
best regards

Hi,
Firstly which sat nav software are you running?
(It's a good idea to create a signature in your profile listing your hardware and software)
TomTom 3 for instance allows you to turn the volume up and down via the centre toggle button if the hardware button settings are set to default.
The PPC system settings gives no control for the toggle button. _________________ Ian.

Hi Guys,
Sorry, I normally do put my system specs in my signature but I must have forgotten in this forum. It is done now.
Anyway, my system is one of the Lidl bundles - MyGuide 6500XL running Falk Navigator. The only way to mute the sound within the software is to exit the navigation screen and then there is a button on screen to mute. However, this is still rather difficult while driving.
Regards
