Hi,
Well, I think i'm about to abuse my credit card and take the plunge. I've been waiting for Tom Tom Nav5 but have now decided to give up waiting as the release date seems to keep getting pushed back.
here is what I'm going for. Let me know if you think i've left anything out (no that I can afford anything else!!):
HP ipaq hx4700
tom tom nav 3
GlobalSat BT 338 Bluetooth Gps Receiver
tom tom car mount
InnoPocket Magnum Case
hx4700 screen protectors
GPSassist for tomtom 3
And maybe GPS tuner to try out a bit of geocaching.
I figure i'll get the use of tomtom nav3 for a good few months then TTN5 should be out and be easy to get hold of (and hopefully bug free).
Does anyone see any problems with that set-up. I heard that there have been problems with GPS assist. Have these been resolved?
Thanks for any help.

Forgot to add:
512 flash card.
Not sure which one to go for. Any ideas?

I have a Sandisk UltraII 512mb CF which works very well and is quite fast. You might consider using CheckPOInt 2.0.2 which is free from this site before paying for GPS Assist, also a couple of other useful pieces of software are Storage tools (for formating CFs etc) and Sprite back-up, however I am not sure what back-up facilities the 4700 has.
HTH,

Good choices of software. With any luck you'll be able to upgrade free.

Any reason you are buying this seperately and not getting the bundle with the TomTom receiver?

Checkpoint is excellent and doesn't cost anything.

The maps will be more out of date in that setup - No M6 TOLL for example. But it's still good system.
Have you thought about how you are going to power it all? |

Don't forget to buy Sprite Backup!
I recommned the 1000MB (actually 1024MB) Kingston CF card from ValueFlash.

The tomtom receiver that comes with nav3 isn't the new chip set.

Checkpoint is excellent and doesn't cost anything.
But it dosn't seem to have all the features as GPS assist. Still dont know though if gps assist works with hx4700 and win2003

Not sure what you mean. I'm sure the pDA comes with a battery

Hmmm, my ability to use 'quotes' leaves a lot to be desired. Wish you could edit posts!
