I have a TomTom Go 300 and I want to backup the SD card I received with it for the GB maps.

I have followed the structions on the CD. i.e.
I have plugged the USB cable into my PC and TTG300.

I have put in the help CD selected the option to Backup settings.
It then says:

Quote:
Please connect the power supply to your TomTom GO and switch ON your TomTom GO. Next, make sure that your TomTom GO is connected to your computer, and then press the right button below. Press the left button below to return to the Setup menu.

Which I do.
When I click next it still keeps me on the same screen.
In the instructions on the CD manual it also states:

Quote:
Note: While TomTom GO is connected to your PC (Windows will recognise it as a 'Mass storage device'), you won't be able to use it to look up routes. Normal operation is restored as soon as you disconnect from the PC.

My PC does not recognise it.

Can anyone tell me what might be the problem.

Do I need to install something onto my PC ?

Many Thanks
Dave

Doh!
Please ignore.
Would help if I pushed the cable in the whole way.

I don't know what the instructions say for the 300 - but make sure that you make a copy of the whole of the SD card on your PC - because the map data is not supplied on CD, so if you loose it, you're stuffed.

You will almost certainly need to use normal Windows functions to do the copying - rather than anything which TT supplies. If it's like the Classic, the TT backup routine only backs up your personal settings - nothing else!

It is exactly like the Classic in that respect.
