How many of us will upgrade to TTN5?
Ignoring TomTom's failure to deliver the upgrade as intended for the PDA market, how many of us will upgrade knowing some of the issues that are detailed in the reviews, the Go forums etc?
I will buy it and install it, test it and if I hate it, go back to 3.07T.
But what about the rest of you? _________________ iPhone5, TomTom, Google maps, Navfree, Viewranger and Apple Maps (ekk) |

Good question, I for one come from the stable, if there is an update or new version of software I use often, then I download as soon as it is available. However, what will I get with TTN5 that I don't have with TTN3.07, checkpoint, and UKpostcode addon, more up to date maps and thats it I suspect. This time I will hold off, and read topics posted here before I make the next jump.

This would make a good topic for a poll by the way. _________________ Mio P550 Mio 3 TTN 6 2GB SD Card, Ipaq 5450: Integral 1Gb SD card, TTN 6, POICapture, PPC 2003 |

The main reason for me to upgrade is for new mapping, It is really annoying to be constantly redirected when driving down the M6 Toll.
Although I believe that by buying Tomtom 4.40 you get that, I am told that you can also just use the updated map with Navigator 3 |

I'm undecided, I'll probably wait until people have had an opportunity to use V5. The reason being is that I'm not prepared to pay for another upgrade (if you can call it an upgrade) similar to V3. My biggest concern is around then routing and not being able to adjust the road speeds.
I do think TT have a bit of a problem on their hands, even with their poor customer support, I was a loyal customer up until V3. There's now more competition and I'm seriously looking at alternative products. |

Dubious copies of Navigator 4 seem to be changing hands on ebay for about £10, this could provide the updated maps for anyone not willing to wait until Navigator 5 is available and stable.
Whilst this is no doubt illegal, it does pose the question that if somebody else is making money by offering the facility to update maps, why doesn't tomtom do it themselves ? |

Question is whats actually better then tomtom on a day to day basis?

Valid point. I have trialed Mapopolis and Destinator in the past. I do find that the UI of TTN and general ease of use, speed, memory etc of TTN far exceeds the others I have tried. _________________ Mio P550 Mio 3 TTN 6 2GB SD Card, Ipaq 5450: Integral 1Gb SD card, TTN 6, POICapture, PPC 2003 |

Navigon looks promising, and there's been a very competative upgrade offer, combine this with TMC support and its seems a good option.
I'm considering using my old copy of TT V2 as and upgrade option and that will still allow me to upgrade to TT V5 using my TT V3? |

>if I hate it<
If TT5 has one of those absurd repetitive start-up screens than make you promise never to use the software while in control of a moving vehicle, then I shall pass on the upgrade |

I want to see what the upgrade policy is - if it is the same as last year that when you updated you got the maps of Western Europe updated free of charge I will make the jump. I am not going to pay for an upgrade of GB maps, and then pay for upgrading the Europe maps as well.
