I'm surprised there's no thread on this (did I miss it?) given the propensity of many people on here to mess with the internals of the Go
If you have v5.0 or later software, then you can put a 240x320 24-bit BMP file in the root of your SD card and the Go shows it at startup/shutdown. That's 240x320 even though the screen is 320x240; the BMP, if viewed or edited on a PC, is rotated 90 degrees clockwise. In other words, when you edit it on a PC, the left-hand-edge of the image will be the bottom of the image when it's viewed on the Go.
Being a Jag owner, I thought I'd amuse you by posting mine... This is the file as it's saved to the Go, so it's rotated. |

That brought back memories! My late father used to own a 1950 MkV - which was remarkably similar in appearance to its predecessor - despite having double height front bumper, headlights semi-integrated into the wings, rear wheel spats, etc. Also had torsion bar front suspension. Did the pre-war SS have cart springs?

At this point, I should admit that's not my Jag! I drive an X-type... |

Does the file need to have a specific name? If so, what? |

Needs to be called splash.bmp mate
At the risk of being flamed, here's one for all those, feeling a little ripped off by TomTom recently!
