|
|
Looking at changing my xda2 and I'm looking at a replacement which runs 2003 2nd edition. Has anyone experienced any problems with any type of nav software / compatability issues of any sort.
I see that if you run tt3 then you need to be using 3.07 ( is this correct?).
I would consider other software if it works.
Cheers

You will get a nastigramm from BillG, bla-bla-ing about "this program was written for an earlier version" but you can safely ignore that. All programs will run under 2003 SE in portrait mode. Not all of them however will dynamically handle the orientation switching to landscape - that you need to try out.
From first reports it looks like the majority of programs will NOT run on Windows Mobile 5.0, so the vendors should start rewriting their memory management now to avoid surprises when the first WM5 PDAs hit the shelves. _________________ Lutz

Just to endorse Lutz's post, I have Tom Tom Navigator 3 running on an XDA2s (2003 SE) without any problems except lack of lansdcape support. You will get the warnings that Lutz refers to when installing both Tom Tom & Checkpoint but just ignore them.
Navigator 5 is alleged to support landscape mode (if it ever gets released) but, being a Tom Tom product, will probably have more bugs than a Pixar movie....
My XDA2s will be up for sale shortly if you're interested. |

Landscape is supported on TTN4 and TTN5 , however this is a TomTom creation and completely ignores the WM2003SE settings. - so older OS PDAs can use it, too. _________________ Lutz

Thanks for the replies.
I'm looking at the xda 2i ( waiting for a good deal to come up) on contract as my existing 12 month contract is up.
Thanks again |

I have WM2003SE running on my XDAII and not had any issues with Nav software, some don't like Landscape but all work fine in Portrait. _________________ Darren Griffin |
