I've had a good look through the forum and can't see any reference to my problem
On joinging a dual carriageway the speech file tells me to go up the ramp correctly - but as I join the carriageway rather than domething like "turn left in 10 miles" and so on - it tells me to turn left right now - the map is right, saying however far the juntion is away. When you get to the junction the voice remains silent (it thinks you've already left the mororway) & ony starts talking again after you have taken the junction (or gone past if you didn't keep watching the map)
Sometimes it also happens when leaving a motorway - it tells me to turn off the junction roundabout correctly and then immediately says turn onto the next juntion even though the map says iy maybe some miles away
Looking at the map as I join the motorwat it seems to show two actions - one of going up the ramp and secondly joining the carriageway - it seems to be that this is confusing the voice command which having nothing to say at the top of the ramp jumps forward to leaving the motorway instead
Anyone else suffer with this ?

I had the same problem when I first got CP5. When I had joined the motorway, it would say 'Just ahead take sliproad' when the sliproad in question was 25 miles ahead. It would then not give any announcement when arriving at the motorway exit.
Intially, I had v.30 of the software, but after returned the software to ALK for investigation, they returned v.48, and this now seems to have resolved this particular problem.
I believe v.48 is now available for download from ALK's website, and would recommend that you install this and try the journey again. Hopefully it will fix the problem for you.

Yes version .48 seems better. It does still tell you the next turn instructions as soon as you join a dual carriageway but then also tells you again 2 miles, then 1 mile away etc.
Try the update from the ALK Europe site but check the previous posts about how to fix the speech and roundabouts becoming circles after the update. |

Thanks very much for the comments - I miust be stupid but how do I install the patch - I cant make head nor tale of what to do and the website seems no help
I downloaded a "cab" file to my desktop and when I click on it it contains many files - non of which are executable
Do I just copy the files accross onto the ipaq and if so to what directory ?
Thanks !

Newwie
Have a look on the 5.0.1.48 UK Update thread in particular my reply Eltel on page 2. That should give you all the info but yes you do need to copy the cab file over to the pocket pc and run it from there. |

I think you need to be a computer expert to update this software - but thanks to the help I did it and it works much better on the motorways
Mind you, it still tells me about the speed cameras only at the next junction after them - but I can live with that
Thanks again

Hi Newie
I've read on some of the other posts that the @ symbol in the pocketgps speed camera files may be the problem with it not anounicing them until after the next turn. I have had it happen to me too.
I'm sure the suggested solution was to replace all the @ symbols with the word AT in the Excel spreadsheet (or CSV file) before doing the custom POI update in the desktop version. I haven't tried it yet though. |

Can you update the POI's on Co-Pilot using the POIsync thing? |
