|

I'll be off to the USA before too long, equipped with my trusty MD95000 (Mitac Mio 168 clone), TT3.07 and TT2004 maps.
The question is whether the driving direction is coded into the maps themselves, or is determined by the version of the programme, i.e. because I am using a GB version of Tomtom will it think I am still driving on the left even though I am using a USA map? Or will it know I am driving on the right?
I expect if it thinks I am on the left that it will mess up a lot, because with the roads being so wide it will know I'm on the "wrong" carriageway and tell me to "turn around when possible" all the time!
Anyone any ideas that has used a similar setup?

DUH! I realised I can still plan a trip while not there, I changed maps and put in start and end points and watched what it did with the dual carriageways, it does route me driving on the right.
Thanks for the input.

Well that does matter, because in the USA there are so many roads that are very wide, like dual-lane highways that are very wide, with wide central reservations, so Tomtom will know which "side" of the road you are on in that case because there could be a 10 or 15 metre difference in your position.
Hence if it did think I should be driving on the left then it would be constantly telling me I am driving the wrong way down the highway.
Anyway it seems to work ok so hopefully it won't be a problem.
