does anyone know if tomtom is abandoning the tomtom car kit? the compatibility list has been reduced to dell axims x3, x3i, x30 and x5 and palm tungsten t3.
i had the ipaq 2210 cradle hardwired and was hoping to just replace with a cradle for a newer pocket pc. i hope they would at least create a car kit for the x50v or loox 720. _________________ tomtom 940 live/tt active dock holder/tt rds-tmc traffic receiver usb |

They used to do one for the XDA but now not listed also. Plenty of resellers seem to advertise/stock them, and there are new ones coming on the market such as CarComm etc. I think they are still producing them but not retailing them from their own site. _________________ Graham.

actually you had better call them, I thought the same thing and turns out they stop making the cradle for my Ipaq H5555. it went bad and when I called them they said they would send me a generic cradle with the extra cable. I freaked out because I had this cradle hard wired on my bike and two of my cars. I hate the generic ones with all the wires and the cigarette lighter adapter. Tech support hooked me up with there unit they used in house, but said if that one went bad I would have to get the generic one as a replacement.
I then looked around at retailers online and at home and no one had it any more, turns out they stop making my cradle 8 months ago so the retailers stock depleted. So I wen to the only place left, EBAY. as it turns out no one had it there either, they had every one else but mine. So I checked back every week or so and after 2 months some one put one up. thank god he had a "buy it now" option so I jumped on it. might sound extreme but after paying 600.00 for that Ipaq I vowed I would never spend that much for a PPC again, so I had to make sure this one will last. |

My original TT car cradle got zapped a while back and like you TomTom no longer listed it on their site, so bought a Seidio G2100 car kit, which is almost an identical unit and was a straight swap without any changes to wiring or connections. _________________ Graham.

thanks for the info. i suspected it somehow. is it an exact swap? does it have the same mounting at the back? it looks quite fine on there website. my 2210 still works well. i just want to be sure that if i would have to replace it for any reason, i can easily swap the tomtom cradle. thanks again. _________________ tomtom 940 live/tt active dock holder/tt rds-tmc traffic receiver usb |

to be honest the cradle is ok,the charger cable is about 10" long absolutely no use for my vehicle.suction mount and vent clip are woeful, sent it back on friday for a refund.
i was just dissapointed in it being advertised as a tomtom mount and at 45 pounds it isn't cheap. |

seems that the tomtom car kit and even the universal cradle have gone from tomtom's site. _________________ tomtom 940 live/tt active dock holder/tt rds-tmc traffic receiver usb |

What's going on with the cradles? There's not much point in buying a GPS system for a PDA and being unable to mount it in your car!
I have a TomTom mount for my 2210, but I'm concerned that if something happens to this or I want to upgrade my pocket pc I'm going to be totally stuck! |

exactly my concern as well. i'm thinking of upgrading to x50v this summer because of the availability of a replica from pdamods (mentioned a few posts earlier in this thread). _________________ tomtom 940 live/tt active dock holder/tt rds-tmc traffic receiver usb |

Carcomm and Brodit have far better mounting solutions than TomTom's with much wider ranges, amplified speakers, Serial out etc. _________________ Darren Griffin |

brodit doesn't make the hardwired version for newer ppcs. i hate wires. only the tomtom car kit seem to suit my dashboard well. and i prefer something that would just replace the cradle itself, so that i wouldn't have to re-wire. seidio has something for xdas. carcomm's cradle has a limited ppc compatibility. i can only see very few from their website. pdamods has the closest there is to tomtom's car kits. _________________ tomtom 940 live/tt active dock holder/tt rds-tmc traffic receiver usb |

Which PPC exactly? Brodit are normally pretty quick off the mark when it comes to releasing new cradles.
Carcomm showed a comprehensive new range of cradles at CeBit but they don't appear to ahve made it onto their website yet. _________________ Darren Griffin |
