This is a new one. Did you install TTN in the default directory on your PPC? What happens if you start TTN manually after the progress bar is gone? Can you switch to GPSAssist using iTask?

Cheers,

Jo.

sidewinder/sponge, when you installed TomTom Navigator to the default directory, did you use main memory, or did you select a storage card ? If you selected a storage card, this may be the problem.

Dave

GPAssist is in the default directory as is TTN. When I start GPAssist it starts TTN and the little red bar goes along the bottom of the screen. The GPAssist screen then flicks up (with all the buttons etc) then TTN fills the screen. If I use ICBAR and select the GPAssist app, it flicks up and immediately goes back to TTN before I can do anything! If I kill TTN app, GPAssist is shown but I cannot do anything, it reloads TTN and I'm back to the same prob! I've even tried loading TTN then GPAssist....

Interestingly I have just been able to flick to the GPAssist screen and quickly press the "Manager" button before it goes back to TTN. Then by flicking back and firth I have seen the following message

"POI.CBD database not yet ready. Please try again."

Any ideas?

Sponge

I'm with Jo on this one, this definately looks like a new problem.

Have you tried soft resetting and then loading GPSAssist on it's own without anything other than ICBar loaded ?

I would recommend uninstalling, soft resetting and reinstalling GPS Assist and overwrite all files. There maybe one file you can't replace which is an outlook file.

I've just bought my first GPS(2nd hand 3850) and fitted it with an Emtac sleeve and loaded TT2 and GPSAssist. I had exactly this problem with the quick burst of lfe-then zilch. I think I might have only got a partial loading of some of the files as later on I operated active synch between my laptop and the pda and it seemed to pick up GPsAss and TT2. When I tried things again everything worked beautifully. Could be worth a try.

I have also set up the keys and buttons as you have advised on other posts--and that again is working great. Thanks for the info

The fiollowing was sent to GPSAssist support on 6-Jun-01 and has not yet had a reply so I am asking here if any one can tell me what I am doing wrong ......

I can't seem to get the correct response using 'Auto-night colours'

'I cannot find how to correct the sunrise/sunset time as it currently displays Sunrise @ 09:26 and sunset @ 16:42 with the date @ 04/06/03, the time zone is set at GMT+1. Now even during the winter the sunrises earlier than 09:26, so you can see my problem. My guess is that, as I am not connected to the GPS, no signal is being received and therefore the default sunrise/set times are at some extreme latitude.'

Thanks in advance for your thoughts

The auto-night colours has always been an issue, Jo believed he had fixed this by using a different algorithm, but last time I heard, this was still an issue. The problem is it's not just UK users, it's users all over Europe, getting these spot on is difficult at the best of times.
