This mostly depends on the Bluetooth implementation on your PDA It needs to support the Audio Gateway profile - can you confirm that for your PDA?

Hmm. Is there any special screen on the PDA setup that talks about this, too? On my iPAQ 6315 I have a checkbox where I can decide if I want to forward standard audio to the headset or not.
