The voice cab files are separate - you can download them from the web. _________________ Lutz

i'm tom from belgium. i visit english forums cuz they're better
i've copied the cab files to my pocketpc, then i've clicked the icon, and it started installing the files.
so far the good part!
then i've started the program, but when i wanted to turn on the sound, it said "you don't have sound files. voice direction cannot be used"
anyone?
thanks a lot!!!

You need to use the TomTom 3 CD. The voice CAB's are stored in the Voice directory. The English female is ENGF.CAB copy it to the SD card and run it from there.
If you keep it on the SD card with the Program and GPS .CABs, and make a note of your activation code and store it on the SD card in a text file, then you can re-install TomTom 3 without the need of a computer, when TomTom asks for the activation code, just copy and paste it. Its come in useful for me a few times when I've left my ipaq in the car and the battery has gone flat.
If you make all your CAB files read only before you copy them to the SD card, then they won't disappear when you install them. |

hellow.
i did all that...
before the .cab installation there was a "no sound files installed"-warning when i started tomtomnav. now that warning is gone... so i thought it was all fixed, but when i'm in the program, and i want to turn on the sound, i get the warning again...
which is weird cuz when i installed the .cab it said "installation succesfull"
i tried to reinstall the ttn-application with the .cab & the textfile on the storage card like you said, but it changed nothing... |

Could some one walk me through this.
I have downloaed ahe ARM 2.07 cab file.
Extracted to a temp location on PC.
Then from this thread I have copied the file Tom Tom 2 across to my PPC
into the windows folder etc.
It asked if it should overwrite existing file - I said yes.
I am using Tom Tom v3.07 should I get rid of the the TomTom Gps file first.
I am trying to use Beeline Gps software.
Could someone help please.
regards

Sorry to sound daft..could someone please explain what files need to be put where, and how to act if a power loss is suffered to re install TomTom without a PC. Please no overtechnical jargon :-) |

By far the easiest way of recovering from power loss or a forced hard reset without a PC to hand is to use Sprite Backup to restore a backup from memory card.
Reinstalling Navigator 3 is possible from CABs if you have the GPS CAB, the program CAB and a voice CAB, also the activation code for your Pocket PC, but it is, I would argue, the more awkward way round.

Either that or you can use CABInstl which gives you the option to install to a folder of your choice and to decide if you want to keep the CAB file or not. _________________ Lutz
