Hi, I have a palm Zire31 with Mapsonic and Kirrio GPS reciever - it was bought as a bundle pack. It worked for the first two days and it has now stopped working and says "cannot open GPS port" when i want to start navigating? Have i messed up a setting somewhere, can someone please help me as the instructions are absolutly dire - 1 page on how to install software and no intructions on how to use it or set it up!
Yours frustratedly,
Craig |

Sorted it after reading a thread on here. Needless to say iam taking it back!
The Palm is a piece of crap and is bundled with software it cant even run, because everytime i plan a route it says - "insufficient memory, please delete some a restart mapsonic. This is the problem - it then requires a reset of the palm (using a pin in the back) to get the GPS port to open up again!!! - How the hell can a company produce such crap instructions with a piece of software that doesnt even work properly on the unit it was sold with!?!?!
Ive wasted a week trying to sort this "wacky invention" out and when it came to use it for real - i planned my route on it and got outside and the damn GPS port wouldn't open again! - Great 15mins to plan the route only to go back and crack open a bloody OS Map of England.
Dont waste your money - for £250 i would expect some instrutions and a full map that you can navigate from lands end to john o groats from without it saying "Insufficient memory".
It can however navigate me to the end of my road - but i already know how to get there!
BTW i have the 16Meg Palm and it has 11.4 Meg free on it and no other software apart from what it has on it from new |

Ive formatted the DS card (or supressed as my Palm likes to call it ) and now i when i try and load up Mapsonic on it, it says "no map found in device" - I dont have any instructions on how to re-load the Map onto the provided DS card either?
So now i have a Palm with 14Meg which should just about be able to cope with running Solitaire i think - or should i say hope! :D
Anyone have an idea on how to load the map back on to my Palm?
Thanks |

Now i have no map and ive spent all night trying to fix this damn thing.
The SD card is empty and after trying to export a map onto the SD card in the Palm im giving up! When in Mapstore (on my PC) i have noticed i dont even have a bloody "export" button so how the hell can i put a map on the Palm!!!
Ive now resorted to wiping my arse with the smooth side of the palm before i take it back to the shop and laugh at the sales assistant.
The thing is when this kit works - i love it! - I really hope someone from research and development in Viamichellin has been removed from duty! |
