Hi,
I bought my TTG a month ago along with a 1GB SD card and the Maps of Western Europe. There was a delivery delay on the maps and card so only got them this weekend.
I then read the info re upgrade to v5, which TT's site says is recommended.
So I have upgraded to v5 and installed all the maps and the speed camera data from this site and all seems to work well.
However I now read that v5 requires new maps to work correctly!
Where do I stand on this? I only just bought the thing and additional maps! TT said to upgrade and now tell me "oh and you will have to buy new maps".
This seems very unfair and not a good way to welcome a new customer.
Can someone enlighten me, have I understood the situation correctly?
Thnx |

Hi,
Im sure others may help you more but as far as I know your tomtom will work ok with the old maps apart from the full postcode search will not work as this relies on some extra files on the new maps. You can still use the downloadable postcode files but these are not 100% and they use up all the room on your tomtom where other POIs could be stored ( the limit is by number not by card size). Also of course your old maps are , well old so won`t be as up to date as the new ones.
I would be annoyed if I was you having to upgrade after a month, but as the new maps are not out yet so pricing info is not clear so maybe you will have to pay the upgrade fee or maybe they may help you out . I would email tomtom and ask them .

You may actually be eligible for a free upgrade to the new maps once they come out. Until then just ignore anyone who told you v5 doesn't work with v4 maps - as it obviously does for you. _________________ Lutz
