|
|
hi
i've just loaded the speed camera poi on viamichelin 2.5
when the sound is activated for the POI all you get is a buzz (or maybe it's a bleep).
The POI actually come with wav files for verbal warnings of the speed camers. is it possibe to use these??
On another note;
has anyone tried version 3.0 yet?
aparently it's a free upgrade for registered users of version 2.5.
cheers

I haven't tried changing the wav files, but on internal PDA memory there are files for Mapsonic called:
FARALARM.WAV and NEARALARM.WAV
It is probably worth changing these and seeing if it works !
Use filez or similar free utility to manipulate the files in internal memory. |

Version 3 can be found at http://www.shop.viamichelin.com/
on the left hand side you will see updates, click that.
You need to register a version of 2.5 to get a free upgrade.
i'm still waiting for my e-mail to gain access to it. |

thanks
I found it and have the email but the password won't let me download the patch!
I got the email within a few seconds of registering.

ok - I got the patch (30mb) and will install it when I get home. I'll post some thoughts on it once its on the palm.
I called michelin about the problem I had and got through 2nd ring - lovely lady as well (god - sexist or what) who must have sorted it out immediately as the login worked within 5 minutes.
At least the support is better than Tomtom

Returning to the original subject...I tried playing around with the FARALARM and NEARALARM files but they don't appear to be simple .WAV files. I copied them to the SD card and they show up as .WAV.PDB files. This was under version 2.5.
Version 3.0 has changed the files to .SND types. |

I've just updated to v3 from 1.32 and looking to do the same.
Found this note (translated with google) which suggests on v2 you can simply update the WAV's in the program files folder and resync the palm app.
But it doesn't give any details about the bits or khz.
On v3 in the same location on the PC you can find the files FarAlarm.snd and NearAlarm.snd but have not yet managed to work out what format they are actually in. I suspect WAV of some form but thats not quite enough without header information.
The ones on the palm are as you pointed out in PDB format which includes additional header information for the palm it would seem and this is added/converted during sync.
I've tried to replace the files with standard WAV's then re-sync which does place them in the updated PDB format on the palm but doesn't play them.
Guess next step is maybe to see if ViaMichelin will tell us the format unless anyone here can let me know the details. |
