Same problem here when used with my Alpine headunit. Pause worked better but it also eventually completely muted the volume after a warning was announced, closing the app was the only fix.

I agree, the GPS chip in the new iPhone 4 appears to be far better than in my previous 3GS.

This may be a little bug as it appears this occurs on mine but only when you first start the app. As soon as the app plays a noise the in app volume is working fine. To test go to 'sound warnings' ...
