I found out that SP2 failed to load, now I've sorted that problem out, so the answer to my query is that you should see the following details on your Navman screen:

In the majority of cases I start up and drive away and the fix is usually very fast. Yesterday I did check the satelite status and whilst having about 6/7 red bars the signal strength was quite low. |

The N60 has the more modern SiRFStarIII chipset so would be unaffected by athermic windscreens.
Once it does acquire a fix is it otherwise OK?

Having had an iCN630 for nearly 2 years, you get used to the sort of problem you have just experienced. If you know it's wrong then ignore the instruction and let the unit work out a different route ... |

Doesn't the Navman Website FAQ section give you details of how to activate and deactivate the Route Simulator
