I have an Hx4700, which I use with a Holux 236 and Brodit amplified mount.
I would strongly recommend that you get an amplified mount, as the audio output of the Hx4700 is not the loudest on the mar ... |

In preferences, have you tried turning off the 3D display?
Yes, I have always disliked the 3D display so it's never on.

If there is no route planned, once there is a GPS fix you should see a scrolling map.
To ensure there is no route go to the main menu (2nd page I think) and tap on the 'Clear route' icon.
