there are however lots of new HADEC cameras on that stretch I am told (by the local traffic cops who have picked up the odd ticket) |

I agree, put the headset in pairing mode and then get the Garmin to search for it. Then just enter the passcode (normally 0000 or 1234) and job done.

For my Zumo the update was two files, not a major problem as long as is works. On the sort of riding I do, I need vehicle power and there is no way a smart phone will last for long enough with the bat ... |

Put it on a separate card and manage it that way, also makes it easier to run map updates once the internal memory gets stretched.
I use a 660 and a 590 on m bike - audio books on the 660 and music ... |
