Nuvi 2548, 3 icons appeared out of blue

Hello all.
I have the nuvi 2548 and few months ago 3 icons appeared on map screen. I don't know where they came from. These icons obstruct map screen. They are a messages icon, communication device icon plus a flag with a X below. None of them seem to serve any purpose. At same time these appeared the destination input icon changed from a magnifying glass to a truck. Ever since this happened the sat nav has not been right.
Another issue is the fact that unit goes into usb connection mode, when powered using original in car power cable. Then Restarts and then I have to re input destination.

Have you tried a master reset? Sounds like it needs it
