battery fault?

i've had a garmin summit for a few weeks and just started using rechargable batteries(2000 ma).the charger says they're fully charged but when i get to the battery check screen on my summit it says they aren't.is this because of the lower voltage or could my charger be at fault?

I use uniross 2300 Rechargable batteries for several types of device and they can never show a full charge on the meter because they are only 1.2 volts not 1,5 volts as in disposables
