Hi there.....
Complete newbie here, any help would be really appreciated.
I have a few of questions
1) Im about to buy a Mitak mio 168, and in order to prove the worth of my latest and greatest gadget to my Boss (aka Wife) I want to be able to get access to maps of greece, for when we go on holiday there. More specifically Zante. I plan to use tom tom 3 software
For my personal use I plan to use it for two things, one is driving around, which I can clearly see how its gonna help me, cos Im out on the road loads. I also mountain bike quite a lot, going off road quite a bit. So I would like to be able to access maps that show details of the terrain (are these called topographical maps?) such as farmhouses, rivers etc. Would these types of maps need a seperate application to tom tom?
Given that I'll be using it on my mountain bike, and the frequency that I fall off the damn thing, I would like to put the unit out of sight in a backpack, where it won't get damaged. Do GPS receivers work through Cloth? I ask this also beacuse I would like to put the thing out of sight in major cities when I'm completely lost, only using the earphones to direct me. I dont want to get mugged with the thing you see, so I would like to keep it out of sight.
Thanks if you can help, even if you know they answer to some of the questions.
Thanks for this, much appreciated. Just for info, I have found topograhical maps for the UK. they are in a package called memory map OS. Still no joy with the greek isalnds as yet though. So if anyone else can help that would be great.

Cannot help with maps for Mitac.
But if you have an Android phone you could look at the Oruxmaps app and then Openandromaps at www.openandromaps.org/en/ at which you can download the latest Topo OpenStreetmap into Oruxmaps.
The Openandromap site has excellent instructions how to do this and has worldwide topo maps.
The Oruxmap app is excellent for walking etc. but there is also the Locus app. to try.
Hope this helps.
