Subscribers to TomTom's own speed camera database service may not be aware that their service is having some issues and consequently there has been no database update since 12 Mar!
This is very poor for a service that is only of use if the data is up to date. With three weeks since the last update perhaps we can capitalise on this and encourage one or two of you to sample our data as an alternative?
Android and iOS smartphone owners can download the app for free, this includes one full update of the data (data that's updated daily btw and is bang up to date!). So you can road test it at no risk.
Given TomTom have gone out of their way to trample all over our speed camera service, imitating it, making it harder to use on their devices and now making it impossible to use on their latest models, you'll forgive us for the sly grin when we head they were having issues.

This is what a TomTom Staffer says on their discussion forum today Quote: | We're currently testing a fix for the deliver issue | So yippee for TT customers - you have been free from their inaccurate database for the last three weeks. And don't worry, bank holiday weekend surely means you'll get another week! _________________ Dennis

On the bright side, combine the new TomTom GO, displaying their speed cam database very nicely on the app, with CamerAlert running behind it giving accurate warning, you have pretty much the best of both worlds, although it does highlight just how many cameras are missing from the TomTom database _________________ Galaxy Note 4 / TomTom GO : CamerAlert : CoPilot |

Sorry, I didn't even notice as I've disabled TomTom cameras on my 950 and iPhone App - I just rely on PocketGPSWorld data on the CamerAlert App.
Darren, would now be an ideal time for PocketGPSWorld to become an official TomTom partner so that TomTom can use the PocketGPSWorld camera and POI databases?

Of course it would - but how would they deliver it? They can't even deliver their own just now, what hope with a third party DB? _________________ Dennis

You can usually edit the text that gets shared?
Unfortunately it's a massive hack to try get the 'opengraph tags' (what powers the sharing text etc) into the forums. However, if you share the actual article link ( http://www.pocketgpsworld.com/TomToms-own-speed-cam-database-has-been-down-since-12-Mar-9985.php ) then it looks better :D

Surprisingly, the TT cameras have updated this morning. Surprising because they've achieved it during a Bank Holiday - maybe it's not a bank holiday in Netherlands? _________________ Dennis
