I've just bought a Classic XXL to replace my 720 that is used solely in the 'Sunday car' as I'm part of a car club and need itinerary planning.
During the week I use the TT Iphone app with HD traffic which is excellent.
Is the RDS traffic receiver that fits into the Classic XXL any good? I don't expect the same level of detail as the HD traffic but is it worthwhile. Also, does it work on the continent?
£27 isn't expensive but if it is useless, I'd rather buy 1/3 tank of fuel for the V8!
Thanks |

It will work in every country if it is the model with the plastic 'egg' in the cord. _________________ David |

That's the one. Does it work well?
Thanks. |

Compared to what? To LIVE Traffic? No.
Better than nothing? YES. _________________ David |

Does the iPhone app not have itinerary planning?
Doesn't the 720 also have it? How do I create a route with several stops? |

Iphone has max of five stops and that isn't enough for my car club routes avoiding all motorways and dual carriageways.
We use Tyre to plan the routes and then we all upload them to our TT's.
The 720 has very old maps and it was cheaper to buy a new XXL and then sell my 720 than it was to upgrade the maps on to my 720.
I never use the other features that the 720 has over the XXL (Bluetooth, etc) so I've got a bigger screen and new hardware cheaper than the map upgrade. |

Put the TT iphone app against the XXL for routing speed this evening.
Can I just say don't do it? It's embarrassing for the PND. The iphone was circa 10 seconds (maybe less) and the XXL was the best part of a minute to the champagne region in France from my home.
All I can say is, don't deviate from the planned route, you really don't want the PND to re-route. It's amazing how quickly you forget because it seemed reasonably quick when I was using the 720 all the time prior to the iphone app. |
