Has anyone been able to make these work on their device yet? The theory is the device sees magenta and replaces this with the background colours. In effect it makes the icons appear circular for the speed limit signs etc.
I have downloaded the 44x44 speed sign icons from the site and converted them to 256 colour .BMP files. I then filled the white background with magenta (255,0,255) and uploaded them to my 3597. When I look on the device the POI shows up with the magenta background!
I downloaded some that a guy in the States made for mcdonalds etc and these work fine so I cannot figure out where I am going wrong.
Anyone managed this and are willing to upload them for general use?
Thanks. |

What program are you using?
I used to use MS Paint on a PC and that worked ok. Apparently some "high end" graphics programs won't do it right for some reason. I forget the technical reason. See this thread |

It would seem that I am not using true magenta. Despite making a custom colour (255,0,255), when I go to fill the background it is a different purple.
Back to the drawing board... |

Assuming the Garmin uses a true RGB value ?
255,0,255 is certainly magenta in RGB _________________ Satnav:

Sorted it. It was MS Paint changing the default value of Magenta. I now have the high res speed limit icons that show up as the road sign would look. |

I think your first post last statement now kicks in

If I could work out how to upload to the site I would. I don't know if the admins would want to add them to the icons download section? |

Could possibly add it as an extra set like we do for the TomTom _X2 icons. However, we'd need all the non-uk speeds too so:
20
25
30
35
40
45
50
55
60
65
70
75
80
90
100
110
120
130
140
160
So if you fancy doing all those and emailing me them I can probably add them to the Garmin download. Either that or just have a zip file on the server that people can download manually.
