|
|
My wife and I have both the 740 and 750 Live devices and they both link to our phones when we use either of them.
I seem to remember that there is a file which is the phone book which can be edited --- as there seems to be no way of editing it from the device itself??
For example I want to remove some of the names in the phone book on the device
-- I have removed them from the phone. I have even deleted the phone from the device and reinstalled
-- but all you come up with is an even larger phone book with some names duplicated or even in triplicate.
So what is the file name on the device and can I edit it on my desk top and replace it??

Believe it is called contacts.txt and can be edited. _________________ David |

Yes, this is yet another useful trick that we can do on the older models but is denied us on the new ones!
On the rare times I've had a phone that connects to my TomToms, the contacts list has always benefited from some subtle (or less so!) tweaking after the TomTom has mangled it on the way in. _________________ "Settling in nicely" ;-) |

Just dawned on us that if we have both phones able to conect to each others tomtom the there is only one phone book !!!
So you most only take out the ones that you BOTH dont want !!
So the fact that my mates come up on her phone book on her 740L is the same as her mates being in my phone book on my 750L.
We have taken out people who have died!! or neither of us need in there..
In fact it was easier to do it on the desk top on one file and then copy and past it into each tomtom -- after renaming the old file "contacts1.txt"
sorted now any way
Thanks

It seem such a long time that I did this last that I had to re visit the forum to see if I was doing it correctly.
Well worth doing though as the phone numbers do change -- people change jobs etc.
Thought I would resurrect this thread just so people can see it can be done.
Well on the 740 and 750Live anyway.
