I have downloaded PocketGPS speed alerts and I guess download completed OK since I get map flags with details as I pass a speed camera. However I cannot get any spoken warning. I have enabled proximity alerts and audio continuous as well as Audible speed alerts enabled.
I chose "consolidate by type" with voice.
The file I have under POI on Garmin is
"pgpsw-speed-cam-b4dm-(11-0840.GPI"
Do I need to disable any Garmin files?
I have previously downloaded the database to a TomTom 700 and this works perfectly.
Any help appreciated. |

Hi hollins
I split your reply into it's own topic - hope you don't mind!
It looks like you have used the MP3 voice files. These won't work with your Nuvi - you will need to use one of the WAV filesets for the audio alerts.
You will also need to make sure you have 'sox.exe' in the same folder as your POI Loader software (usually: C:\Program Files\Garmin\POILoader). You can download that from here: www.pocketgpsworld.com/downloads/sox.zip - just extract the file and place it in the POILoader folder.
Hope that helps!

Thanks MaFt for your advice.
You were right I had used mp3 files. I have now downloaded the set with wav audio and I have also ensured that sox.exe is in with the PoiLoader file.
However I still have the same problem. While navigating the cameras are shown on the map and I get bongs to warn at intervals of the approaching camera BUT no verbal info.
I have tried POI alerts on both single and continuous tone.
When hooked up to my PC clicking on a wav file produces the correct message so the data is there........somewhere!
My interest in the verbal warnings is due to the following.
My 2012 Mercedes has Navi50 satnav and among its many failings is the lack of speed camera alerts. I was planning to use the Garmin 2300 on "map" only with the screen on minimum to save power and not on view and thus have the speed camera verbally reported.
I could use my trusty TomTom700 (10? years old) but it is a bit bulky. |

MaFt,
Happy tell you that I now have it working.
I deleted all PC and Navi POI files and started again following your instructions meticulously.
Works perfectly.
Thanks again for your help |
