|
|
Just tried to do my weekly update of TomTom 1005.
No problem with updating community content (low bridges etc), but when I come to update speed cameras I get following error message.
"The zipped file contains files that cannot be used with your device. You must remove the incompatible files then try again"
What the heck does that mean?
How come its happened all of a sudden (never a problem before)?
How do I remove 'incompatible' files?
Any help appreciated. Thanks[/b] |

Is this the PGPS camera files.
I guess you are trying to upload the readme and licence text files as well as the cameras.
I always sort by name and highlight only the camera files as uploads to POI. _________________ GO 620, Tomtom Android EU,

Thanks for the reply, but I'm simply trying to download the same files as I have done for the last 2 years.
For some reason the error message about incompatible files has only appeared today. How do you determine what are 'incompatible' files?
Is it possible to wipe the database and maybe reinstall the 'pocket gps' 'cameras database again?
Maybe that would be an answer |

Which version are you downloading? It will say what the last one you downloaded where it asks if you wish to download.
It sounds like you want the "TomTom (MyTomTom zip)" version which doesn't include the readme etc files. You may need to change the version using the dropdown menu to download this if you want to use the single file install method.

Just to explain what was going on...
1. The "normal" way to install the database files is to unzip them and upload the individual files to whtever device you have.
2. MyTomTom uses whichever web-browser you normally use for it's user interface and dialogue boxes.
3. Normally you can select all the individual files to install in one go, but there is a problem for people who use Internet Explorer, where you can only select ONE POI FILE AT A TIME to upload. That would make updating something like the camera catabase VERY slow and boring.
4. So TomTom devised a method where you could select a single zip file instead.
5. However, they didn't do it very well and it can only accept a zip file that has the file types inside that it is expecting. The "normal PGPSW download zip has all the extra licence files and help files etc. and MyTomTom can't cope when it sees those.
6. So MaFt created a "special" version of the download with all those extra files taken out. It was intended just for Internet Explorer + MyTomTom users, but it may also be a bit quicker for anyone who has to use MyTomTom. _________________ "Settling in nicely" ;-) |
