I just want to give you people here an insight to a problem I have had over the past 2 weeks. On 2 seperate occasions when starting TT3 I have a message pop up stating
This means nothing to me but Tom Tom would not run.
I uninstalled TT and all signs of GPS, and reinstalled version 2 and upgraded to version 3. Still no joy so I decided a hard reset was called for. This I duly carried out, re-installed everything and TT3 was up and running again.
Today, the exact same thing happened so I went through the exact same proceedure, except this time when I started TT3 I still had the fatal excepetion error.
I decided to look at my SD storage card as maybe being the culprit here, so I deleted some POI I had set up some weeks ago, BINGO TT3 started first time.
The moral is, before you spend 2 nights re-installing software, buying new card readers to speed up the transfers of maps, just check your storage card first. It may be as simple as that.

Duff POI files (more accurately, it's the .bmp graphic files that go alongside POI files) can cause crashes, exceptions and similar. The Steam Trains one from the Pocket GPS POI Sync service seems to be a particular source of trouble.
