I have the PGPSW camera database on my 750 but the warning symbol in the top left corner is too small to see easily. On my previous TT it had larger speed signs.
In the map folder I have 3 files per speed camera a BMP, an OV and a X2 BMP. This last one is the larger sign so why is it not showing as such?
Thanks in anticipation

This is down to TomTom, they altered the Navcore software so it no longer displays the top left icon in the large format it used to, instead they decided to "improve" it putting it in a closed off box resulting in a far smaller icon on the screen (I think they call it progress - NOT) - Mike
Moderator edit - This is no longer the case - see below |

Mike thanks for the reply. So in other words there is nothing I can do to increase the size of the icon. How do Tom Tom think this is an improvement? Glad my old Go Classic is still going strong.

Because it looks "nicer".
And more to the point, they have no interest in making the competitor's camera database work any better.
Quite the opposite.... |

Yes I see your point. Rather short sighted of Tom Tom really especially as their speed camera database is not a patch on the PGPSW one. If they extend their non support of third party POIs to other models of theirs, then they will lose a lot of customers. Needless to say their database is disabled and I am using just the PGPSW one.

Just a thought, Richard.... Are you also using one of the PGPSW voice warning packs, so you get the speed limit spoken out-loud as part of the warning? |

Yes I have Liz warning me on the speed zoned database, same as the one I have used for some time on my original Go.
On a different subject I want to download the European cameras. Can this be put on the same map as the UK camera warnings with a different voice file or would it be better to put it on a separate map which I have on a SD card? I can't find any guidance on this on the download area of the site.

Yes, you can have the UK and the Europe camera alerts both on the same map at the same time, as the file names are different, so they do not interfere with each other..
You can also have different voices for the alerts. |

Andy. Thanks for the info. I'll probably sort it over the weekend
MrDJ. I will check out the voice you suggest.

Just to update on this issue.
With current software for the NAV2 and NAV3 models (i.e. the ones that use Home and MyTomTom respectively), you CAN have large warning icons in the top left of the screen.
There's one slight difference... On the NAV2 models, the "large" icon is not shown quite as large as it used to be, as TomTom have chosen to surround it with a border on screen.
And another small oddity... on the NAV3 models only, if your double-sized icons are named with "....._X2.bmp" at the end they WILL get used.
But if they are have "...._x2.bmp", or there is no underscore character, then they WON'T.
In other words, the "X" MUST be a capital letter.
Now, the icons in the PGPSW download ARE named "...._X2.bmp", so they should be OK, but I'm not sure if that was always the case.
The one's that Gerry C created and posted on his own website are also named ..._X2, but the ones I made for myself and posted links to occasionally WEREN'T, so that might be a cause of some people's confusion.
Here are some pictures to show what you should be getting....
{There should be some screenshots here.... If they aren't showing straight away, try reloading the page or please be patient as my ISP is being really slow at showing images from my webspace}
(Edited to add NAV2 pics) _________________ "Settling in nicely" ;-) |
