Try doing a reset - small button on bottom (probably need a bit of wire/straighten paper clip) - user guide as that often sorts out such issues
Check nothing trapped down edge of screen _________________ J. |

It's possible that this could be caused by some dust/dirt between the screen and the bezel. Try running a thin piece of card under the bezel to see if you can dislodge whatever is causing the problem. _________________ Garmin DriveSmart 50 LMT-D |

First make sure you don't have a screen protector fitted. They are known to cause problems.
Next see if you can remove the screen bezel completely as there have been some reports of problems with the case warping slightly in this heat.
Third, if it really seems to be a screen misalignment issue, you could try the procedure here: How To Calibrate The Tomtom Touchscreen (maybe!)
Do be aware it is an undocumented process, so you'll need to do some experiments with it.
Good luck! _________________ "Settling in nicely" ;-) |

To get the bezel off a Go520:
1. First undo the two tiny screws on the back. They are "Torx" head and you need a Torx T-6 sized screwdriver. These often come free with a new battery, and I think Maplins will sell them. You can probably get them from dodgy-looking phone unlocking shops too.
2. Use the same torx bit (or anything small and stiff) to gently push through the holes where the screws were. That should push the entire front half of the device (consisting of the screen itself, the light grey frame and the dark grey bezel) out of the (black) case,
BE CAREFUL - The two halves are connected by a wide ribbon cable and another 2-wire cable which are quite short and the connectors are quite delicate.
To change the battery it is best to disconnect these but that's not needed for this operation.
3. By now, you will probably have the back half nestled in the palm of your hand and the front half supported on your finger tips.
Look along the TOP edge of the light grey plastic frame and you should see three dark grey clips, one at each end and one in the middle. These are actually part of the metal bezel.
Using a small flat-bladed screwdriver or similar, gently push down and forward on these clips in turn and you should find they unlatch and the top edge of the bezel releases.
4. Now just swing it forward and down (as if the bottom edge is a hinge) and at about 45 degrees the clips along the bottom edge should release too.
Sounds complicated, but its a lot easier to do than to describe! (so long as you have the right Torx driver)
To be honest, it's a long-shot as to whether this will make any difference at all, but it's worth a try before you go on to the screen recalibration.
(Edited for typo - it's a T-6 Torx bit - I originally wrote T5) _________________ "Settling in nicely" ;-) |
