|
|
I have been reading and searching for weeks and need some advice. I have an iPaq 4350 w/ 512meg card and want to add a Bluetooth GPS receiver. My problem is that I live in an area with a lot of trees and am looking for a unit that has great sensitivity to get and keep a lock.
I am considering the following units:
Leadtek 9357
Emtac
Co-Pilot
Fortuna Clip On
Holux GR-230
Any help is apperciated. |

I think that the Navman 4100 has very good sensitivity. _________________ Ian.

I know it's not on your list, but the Navman 4100 has very good sensitivity. It works well even in my garage with the door shut. The garage roof consists of 1/2 inch concrete(?) tiles. |

it depends what car you, where you mount the gps and if you a heat refletive windscreen this type of windscreen seams to hinder gps data the gps is receaving with these wind screens many members have found that putting the gps behind the rear veiw mirror or otherwise the other route is to get a reradiating areial ive not had much experiance with these but they do increase the sensitvity hope this helps you _________________ currently using aponia truck navigation on windows phone. Good bye IOS don't let the door hit you on the way out .

I have a Mercedes Benz/AMG roadster, no metalic front windscreen.
I will look back into the Navman. There was a reason why it did not make my list, but I can't remember why. Probably based on the reviews on this site compared to other GPS units. |

The Navman 4400 review (which includes the 4100 BT receiver) includes the bundled software. I believe the software element has reduced the scoring of the review. (but don't quote me on that)
It has also been reviewed with the latest software (4410 and 4460) but it appears the same review of hardware has been duplicated as they all use the same unit... the 4100.
The receiver itself is worthy of consideration dependent of course on budget and requirements. _________________ Ian.

I’m very happy with my Fortuna Clip-On. My second choice, which was very close, was the Navman 4100.
The new Emtac Trine Data logger looks very nice as it has a replaceable battery. Emtac were one of the first to release a Bluetooth GPS receiver so they should know what they’re doing. The ability to run multiple PPC2003 PDAs is very interesting and will help to make it a winner if the price is right!

I am heavily leaning towards the Emtac Trine if I can get it for a reasonable price.
I don't think I want to pay for the navigation software that comes with most bundles. I am having trouble finding the software that does everything I want. I am currently leaning for Mapoplis but not thrilled with the voice. |
