What Satnav

Currently have a 3 year old Garmin Nuvi 710. It's becoming unreliable, so a new one is on the cards.
I'm retired and my needs are simple. I use a SatNave maybe 3 or 4 times a month.
So.... What's the cheapest large screen current Tom Tom model that can reliably supports the speed camera database.

By 'large screen' do you mean 5" or less? If 5" I'd personally recommend the Garmin 14xx series, I have one and it's a great device, very reliable now after various software upgrades ironed out all the initial bugs.

If smaller my wife has a Garmin 1310, and that works just fine too.

Garmin devices are so much easier to work with than TomTom, IMHO.

Screen size tends to be either "small" - 3.5" diagonal (like on the TT ONE models)
"Widescreen" - 4.3" diagonal - Such as the current TT Go and XL models and the new Start 20
"Big" - 5" diagonal such as the TT XXL and the Start 25

(I don't know any Garmin equivalent model names for comparison, I'm afraid)

One of the biggest questions to ask yourself is whether you wan to be advised of upcoming "traffic" situations and hold-ups.
If you do, then you need to be looking at one of the "Live" or "Connected" models, but if you can live without it, you can get "ordinary" models much cheaper.

The TomTom Start 20 or 25 might be worth looking at (v. different from the old 'Start' and 'Start 2' models), although I'm not so keen on the "all in one" mount they come with.

(Sorry if this is all TomTom-specific, I've nothing against Garmin, just have little experience of them, and quite a lot on TTs)

Using Andy's 'definitions' the Garmin 13xx series is widescreen and the 14xx is big. Both can either come with traffic (look for the T suffix) or not.
