Is there any way of importing the Pocket GPS World safety camera data base into Mapsource so that you can browse the maps and see the location of all cameras. If so - how?

If not - is there any way of doing this with Google maps or any similar free mapping software for the UK.

Yes you can import the cameras to Mapsource.

Download the GPX version of the database. Unzip the folder.
In Mapsource, it's File...Open and then browse to your downloaded pocketgps_uk_sc.gpx file and press Open.

Your map will be covered by lots of differently-coloured icons in different camera categories.

With more work, you can assign the correct PGPSW icon to each of these categories, but it's quite tedious.

Separately you can add the pocketgps_uk_pmobile.gpx pack of cameras, if you store the first database away beforehand.

If anyone knows an easier way, no doubt they will shout up!!

Dales.

I don't know what you're trying to achieve, but if you just want to see where all the cameras are located, wouldn't it be easier to just look at the Camera submission map?

That will also give you each camera's details just by hovering the mouse over it, (or clicking on it).

Dales - thanks for the info - I tried it and can see what you mean about the coloured blobs - but lacking indication of the speed limit at each camera.

Andy_P - I was not aware of the camera submission map - it seems to be the solution but not quite as easy to navigate as Mapsource. However - it will do fine.

AlanHo,

The first digits in the name of each camera blob, indicate the speed limit (where this is known to PGPSW).
