|
|
My old 940 is getting more unreliable.
I would like to get the new 1000 or 1005 but I have the old 940 car charger cable neatly connected in under the dash.
I have looked everywhere for some form of 'USB to Magnetic Mount Adapter' - is anyone aware of anything?
They had something in the display case in one of the Superstores which looked almost perfect - it had the Magnetic Mount, 1CM or so of cable and a Mini USB input, but it was only to keep their display models charged - cannot find it anywhere to buy.
Thanks,
Andrew. |

Thanks for the reply Mike.
I think this cable would let me connect to my PC OK.
I have hard wired the old TomTom 940 Charger - so in the middle of the dash I have a Mini USB connector, everything else is hidden.
On the 940 Active Cradle I just pop this connector in and normally leave the dock stuck on the window (bad idea I know!) with the power lead connected.
In one of the shops I looked they had an small adapter which had a Mini USB input and then the new 1000 style connector as the output. It had a TomTom label on it - but I think it was only to make their show stand work, they didn't have them for sale.
Thanks again,
Andrew. |

Ok, as I understand it you want to power a Go-1000 using the existing mini USB lead thats in your car, get one of These as that takes mini USB and is for the 1000, if you want to have it sat on the windscreen its a simple job to swap the screen sucker from one to the other, just two small Torx screws in the back of the mount to get in to it - Mike |

Or the standard 1000 dock has a cable with the multipin (magnetic) at one end and a standard USB plug at the other.
So you could search the web for a USB adapter, going from mini USB socket to full size USB socket and hide that behind the dash too. _________________ "Settling in nicely" ;-) |

Thanks Andy_P
Found an adapter on Amazon - search USB 2.0 Type A to Mini 5Pin B Female Converter Adaptor which I think will do the job.
Thanks everyone for the help.

Had a welcome email from TomTom as I had to create a new email account because their stupid system was offering old maps for the wrong model.
Anyway, it included a welcome code so ordered cable with delivery for £7.94
