I have a iPAQ h5550 and Navman 4400 using SmartST Pro. and, other than a few mapping problems, I'm really rather impressed with the combination.
The big problem that I have, in common with many other users, is the volume, or lack thereof, which the 5550 produces. I know that the proper solution is a powered & amplified mount or one of the Qubit boxes, but I'm waiting for a new company car before I decide which one to go for.
In the meantime, I've got a Nokia HDW-2 Bluetooth headset which I got to use with my Nokia 6310i phone. It is completely unusable for its advertised purpose. The battery life is terrible and any poor person I call gets a earfull of dreadful howling. I didn't realise how bad it was until I heard a answerphone message I had left for someone
But , I've never had any problems with the incoming audio, so I thought that I might use it to with the 5550. (It is also hideously uncomfortable to wear ).
I'm able to get it paired at the same time as the Navman, so it seems like it will work. BUT with the audio coming through the headset, the volume is still too low If I press the volume up on the 5550, I get the normal on-screen volume scale, but with the pointer at zero. As I press volume up, the pointer goes up the on-screen scale, and I THINK that the beep in the headset gets louder. No difference has been made to the audio volume from applications. If I press the volume up again, the pointer on the on-screen scale has returned to zero.
I have tried this repeatedly, with the SmartST Pro running or not running. I've also tried it with WinamPAQ, so I don't think it is related to SmartST.
Does anyone have any suggestions
I can't find any settings within the Bluetooth configuration related to the volume. Bluetooth Driver and Software versions are 1.4.1.58. I know there is a later version, but I see no mention of Headset volume in the description. Is a fix included
Sorry for the rambling post
TIA
