I know this has been talked about in depth but I can't find the answer anywhere.. When I turn on my HP 5550 with its Navman sleeve attached or even attach the sleeve I get the unknown card in slot 2 message and all the posts I have found suggest formatting the card, which sounds fair to me apart from the fact that there is no card in slot 2 just the blank that Navman supply so unless anyone has some software to format the blank I'm at a loss as to how to stop this. Anyone any ideas?

Have you got a Navman 3000 or SE sleeve? If so, download and install 9to the iPAQ) the Navman 3.1.6 drivers from the downloads section on this site. If it's an iPAQ iNS sleeve, a different driver is needed.

Hi Tim,

It is an SE sleeve and yes I have the driver loaded even though I have not put the navigation software on the IPAQ yet. Problem being if I load the application then the driver all is fine until I remove the sleeve so that the IPAQ fits in its pouch then it when I put it back on I get the message, Yes I suppose I could leave it in the sleeve but then the IPAQ is unprotected. I first noticed this fitting the power lead in the car when I inadvertently lifted the IPAQ from the sleeve.

I've never experienced that before. Whenever I take my iPAQ out of the sleeve and then replace it, I always get a message (on the Today screen) that says "Expansion pack....Initializing". To which area of the iPAQ have you installed the driver?

To the default, I thought it safest.

I have had the same problem on my iPAQ 3970 with 3450 sleeve ever since I upgraded to Windows 2003.
When I loaded the 3.1.6 drivers A pop up box said that the drivers were not designed to work on my operating system and they may not work. It asked if I wanted to install anyway, which I did.
Maybe the problem is that the drivers are not compatable with Windows 2003. Are any newer drivers available?

It's certainly not a Navman driver/WM2003 compatibility issue. I use my sleeve on my 3970 (PPC2002) and my 5555 (WM2003) without any problems. I seem to recall that Navman don't support their software on machines *upgraded* to WM2003.

the only way i found to fix it was to load smart STV1 and activate it and then update it to SP2, works fine on my 3970 with WM2003. the 3.16 driver did not work on WM2003
